Lafarge, as one of Fortune’s World’s 500 Largest Corporations, was founded in 1833. Now it has a history of more than 170 years and is a leading organization worldwide in terms of the areas of cement, plasterboard, skeletal material and concrete. Lafarge Group entered into Chinese market in 1994 with Lafarge Shui On Cement Co., Ltd, Shanghai Lafarge Plaster and Construction Material Co., Ltd and Beijing Yicheng Lafarge Concrete Co., Ltd as its branches in China. Its business covers the areas of cement, plaster board, skeletal material, concrete and so on. It employs around 16000 staff in China.
Lafarge Shui On Cement Co., Ltd, founded in November of 2005, was established jointly by Lafarge Group and Hong Kong Shui On Construction Material Co., Ltd. The corporation situates its headquarters in Beijing and owns 20 cement plants with over 10000 staff. Its annual production capacity of cement is 24 million tons. As for its cement plants, besides two of them in Beijing, others are mainly located in Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.
Shanghai Lafarge Plaster and Construction Material Co., Ltd, founded in March of 1996, were established jointly by Lafarge Group and Shanghai Shipping Corporation. It currently owns 3 production bases of Plaster and Construction Material.
Beijing Yicheng Lafarge Concrete Co., Ltd is a joint venture established by Beijing Municipal Engineering Professional Design Institute, Beijing Yicheng Municipal Constructional Engineering Corporation and Lafarge China Overseas Holding Co., Ltd.

JOB DESCRIPTION: PERMANENT STRATEGY ANALYST
Job Title: Strategy Analyst
Function: Analyst
Job Physical location: Beijing, Chongqing, Guizhou, Kunming
Position Reports to: Strategy Manager
Direct reports: Interns on a project bases
Work relationships Beijing Headquarter and Business Unit level: most of the departments of the company
Overall purpose:
Strategy is the determination of the basic long term goals and objectives, and the adoption of courses of action and the allocation of resources necessary for carrying out goals
The strategist acts as a key input to Lafarge ShuiOn value creation, acting both as an advisor and an expert for ongoing concern and unforeseen business opportunities
Key activities:
- On ‘Ongoing Concern’ (current business):
To generate and maintain the adequate process and databases for gathering economical, building sector and cement macro-and micro-knowledge, follow-up, analyses, diffusion and competitive intelligence (actors, markets and products)
To create informed and timely dossiers with options for the ad-hoc projects and requests needed by the immediate management
- On ‘Strategic Planning’ (Long Term prioritization):
To assure the quality and standards and promote the strategic planning process. To seek the input, collaboration and information of all the functions involved in the key functions of the Strategic Planning
Key deliverables:
- Strategic Studies: Macro-economic and market studies
Research, collecting information in markets, competition
Analysis, defining information
Interviews, updating information databases
Cross-projects: impact on substitutes, vertical integration of concrete, new arrival
- Project Management: conducting the projects
Providing timely updated information relevant to the project
Supporting the process and the project teams with accurate tailored analysis
Assuring consistency, coherency and quality of the information and support hypotheses
Technical competencies:
- Hard skills (Technical competencies)
Analytical: Figure-driven, database knowledgeable, mathematically apt
Finance basics, economic assessment, value-creating profitability
Commercial market stakes
Technical: basic knowledge of processes and industrial tools is a plus
