Postdoctoral research associate position at the Neuroscience Center of Shantou University Medical College

The Center for Neuroscience was established in 2008 with the strong and continuing support by the Li KaShing Foundation. National and provincial grant support allows additional support for internationally cutting edge and vigorous research in basic and applied, translational neurobiology dedicated to neurodegenerative diseases as well as cancer biology to elucidate the functions of cell adhesion molecules in normal physiology and pathology of animal models (mouse and zebrafish). The Center for Neuroscience has developed into an internationally renowned research center (being listed third in China for publication citations in chemistry, molecular biology and life sciences) with modern facilities for research in molecular, cellular and behavioral aspects of neuroscience using mice and zebrafish. Work with transgenic models are ongoing to investigate the mechanisms underlying amelioration of the devastating consequences of acute and chronic spinal cord and brain injury as well as neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Huntington's diseases in mice, fish and non-human primates.

The Center for Neuroscience is led by Melitta Schachner, a world renowned neuroscientist being among the most cited neuroscientists worldwide. (Hirsch factor 117 in May 2016 according to ISI)

Job Opportunities

We welcome applications from scientists with experience in the techniques and conceptual approaches from neuroscience, biomedicine (including acupuncture) and related specialities. Candidates must have a PhD degree, a good command of English and should preferably have scientific experimental experience in molecular and cellular biology, neurobiology or immunology. The University will provide very competitive salaries and free housing accommodation.
